Kava & Christopher Chaplin - Seven Echoes. A soundtrack for an exciting 3-D trip through imaginary film worlds.
An extraordinary album and the result of a unique form of cooperation. After serendipitouslymaking contact in the autumnof 2008 via the digital depths of the Internet, the British composer and former actorChristopher James Chaplin and the Viennese electronic music producer Thomas Pötz, alias Kava, have now released Seven Echoes, a rich and comprehensive album which explores the border between electronic and experimental classical music.
Without ever personally meeting during the production process, this British-Austrian duo still managed to work together for almost two years on various electronic sound patterns, piano layouts, and arrangement sketches before recording the eight tracks on the album with contributions from guest musicians such as the Polypop String Quartet. The album, a work of many layers and great intensity, is like the soundtrack for a 3-D trip through imaginary film worlds.
Seven Echoes has been performed live for the first time in mid-June during the Gugginger Irritationen Art and Music festival in Austria. Additional dates are to be announced.
