Thomas Pötz aka Kava is one of the most gifted and
obsessive talents to emerge from the Austrian scene in the past couple
of years. Born in 1981, producer, DJ, record collector, noise and groove
enthusiast Kava has been breaking serious ground since he committed his
life to making music.
Kava's music encompasses an irresistible mix of clicks n´cuts, noise symphonies, electro, modern classic and even 80s synth pop. After remixing various artists, appearing on selected compilations he dropped his very first EP "Hidden & Direct" on Fabrique in 2002. This 4 track EP smashed in the clubs and on radio stations such as Austria's FM4, Coldcut's Solid Steel on BBC Radio One, London's Xfm, Radio Magnetic or Clyde 1 FM in Glasgow to mention just a few.
The Kava debutalbum "The Empty Hall Sessions" (including the BBoy/BGirl superhit "The Gambler") has
been released in 2004 and received lots of enthusiastic reviews around
Since 2004 Kava worked with artists such as Hans-Joachim Roedelius or Christopher James Chaplin, released two concept albums "The Gugging Album" and "Seven Echoes" and is currently working on various movie and art projects.
